The secret to low scores
Wedge Game 55m - 105m
Accuracy and control on 55- to 105-meter shots are critical for scoring well in golf, as these distances often lead to crucial opportunities for birdies or par saves. They require precision to land the ball close to the pin, setting up easier putts. A lack of control at these distances can result in leaving players too far away from the hole to realistically make the putt.
On the PGA Tour, the average putting percentage from 8 feet is typically around 50%. This means that professional golfers make roughly half of their putts from this distance. This shows the importance of a precise approach shot.
Additionally, mastering these shots builds confidence and helps course management, knowing that even if you miss a fairway and have to lay up, you can recover and still put yourself in a scoring position. Accuracy and control here are key to lowering your scores consistently.
